119 dogs taken in since June 1 by Cleveland Animal Care and Control

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland Animal Care and Control has taken at least 119 dogs into custody since June 1, putting dogs in an already filled shelter in possible peril.

Of those 12 dozen, 43 dogs were taken in the last two days alone.

The total is even greater when you count the lost pets who have already been reclaimed.

This brings the total of dogs currently in custody of Cleveland Animal Care and Control to 173.

The city of Cleveland confirmed the kennel has the capacity for 156 dogs, and the the kennel is in fact “VERY full,” City Dogs Cleveland stated on June 11.

City Dogs is the Cleveland Animal Care and Control’s adoption program.

“As a municipal agency, CACC cannot turn dogs away from the city, meaning we cannot just close to new intakes,” City Dogs Cleveland previously explained. “In reality, we can’t hang a ‘No Vacancy’ sign because Cleveland Animal Care and Control has to help any new stray dog that comes in. We need our community’s help to get dogs into homes!”

Here’s how City Dogs Cleveland said you can help the precious pups who are in a dire situation:

“The dogs in our care had homes at one point!” City Dogs Cleveland stated. “We would desperately like to reunite missing dogs with their families.”
