MISSOULA, Mont. – According to a statement from AniMeals No-Kill Adoption Centerr and Animal Food Bank, on Friday morning, AniMeals staff found 14 cats of varying ages that had been stuffed into three kennels and left outside of their building.
AniMeals says that staff immediately went to work making sure the cats were clean, conducting preliminary visual intakes, and setting up pop-up kennels as temporary housing while they finish their full “nose-to-toes” intake exams.
The four female cats have been scheduled for ultrasounds to check for pregnancies and a wounded male cat is to receive treatment and get neutered. Kittens will need to be fixed and prepped for adoption.
AniMeals provided this information before emphasizing that a heads up and even a little bit of medical background information for any surrendered animals helps make their job a lot easier and more efficient.
AniMeals also emphasized that they understand that cat populations can get out of hand and become overwhelming, but they are here to help and filling out a handwritten surrender form next to their front door (or this surrender form at this link to their website) can make the process of intake to adoption a world of a lot easier.
“As always, if you need help with animal food, please visit the shelter Friday through Wednesday between 2pm and 6pm. Thanks for helping us rescue, feed, and heal,” AniMeals said in their statement.
