HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) -An Ellisville-based, exotic pet and animal rescue organization hosted a special fundraising event at The Switchyard on Mobile Street Saturday.
Hometown Exotics Rescue and Education brought in food and arts and crafts vendors for the first-ever, “Rescuepalooza.”
The goal was to raise funds for the group, which specializes in rescuing reptiles and other exotic animals.
The event also featured live music and a petting zoo.
“We’ve done everything out of pocket so far, up to this point,” said Zander Craven, H.E.R.E. co-founder. “We are a non-profit. Our ultimate goal is to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so, this is a chance for us to get the money together to be able to start working on some of the projects we need to, to not only further our abilities to rescue and care for these unloved animals, but also to take further steps toward getting out 501(c)(3).”
