ALEXANDRIA, VA. — The North American Renderers Association (NARA) shared April 4 that two of its senior staff have been elected to hold key positions in The Global Feed LCA Institute (GFLI). NARA President and Chief Executive Officer Kent Swisher has been elected to GFLI’s board of directors, and Charles Starkey, Ph.D., vice president of scientific regulatory affairs at NARA, has been appoint to GFLI’s Technical Management Committee.
GFLI is an independent, non-profit organization that focuses on advancing sustainability within the animal nutrition and food industry. The organization’s current primary goal is to develop and maintain a publicly accessible Animal Nutrition Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) database that the industry can use to create environmental assessments of animal nutrition products and advance their sustainability efforts.
Through collaboration with stakeholders and industry experts, GFLI seeks to provide credible, transparent and global solutions to help industry companies address challenges in environmental efforts, supply chain and more.
The organization’s board of directors serves as the governing body, overseeing operations and overall direction. The board consists of various industry professionals that help guide GFLI’s activities and ensure its mission is fulfilled. According to NARA, Swisher will leverage his wealth of experience and leadership to support GFLI.
Starkey’s election to GFLI’s Technical Management Committee will help further advance the organization’s technical expertise. As a member of the committee, Starkey will contribute his scientific knowledge and regulatory insights to support the development of GFLI’s Animal Nutrition LCA database.
According to NARA, its commitment to advancing sustainability in the animal food, feed and nutrition industries combined with Swisher and Starkey’s expertise will provide GFLI with invaluable knowledge.
