THE City of Delta notes that as we approach the new year, it’s time to ensure your dog is licenced for 2025.
Dog licences are mandatory for all dogs six months or older in the City of Delta, helping to keep dogs safe and support essential community services. Licences are now available for purchase at a discounted rate until February 28, 2025.
A Delta dog licence provides more than just a tag; it’s a safeguard for your pet. With a current licence, your dog can be returned home more easily and often without needing a trip to the Delta Community Animal Shelter, the City points out.
Why Dog Licencing is Essential:
- Quick Reunification: If your dog accidentally escapes, Delta’s staff can reunite you with your pet through its licence tag.
- Emergency Assistance: Should your dog become lost or injured, Delta’s bylaw inspectors will know how to contact you quickly.
- Supporting the Delta Community Animal Shelter (DCAS): Proceeds from licence sales fund the operations of the community shelter, ensuring the best care for Delta’s animals.
- Exclusive Access to DCAS Programs: A current dog licence unlocks access to off-leash areas, training sessions, behaviour seminars, and enrichment classes.
- Proof of Ownership: A licence tag provides peace of mind as proof that you are your dog’s rightful guardian.
