27 Dogs Seized In Felony Cruelty Case Southeast Of Twin Falls ID


Felony charges have been filed in a case of animal cruelty involving close to 30 dogs who were found to be living in terrible conditions and lacking food and water. Police and animal control in northern Utah seized the animals last week and many of the dogs are now available for adoption.

A 55-year-old Coram woman has been charged with felony animal abuse after 27 dogs were removed from her property, according to details shared by kpax.com. The community of Coram is located 220 miles southeast of Twin Falls, Idaho.

According to kpax.com, the dogs were unvaccinated and conditions on the property at the time of the seizure were described as “unsanitary” and included garbage, excess urine and fecal matter, and little to no water. Punishment for felony animal cruelty in Utah can include up to five years jail time and a $5,000 fine per animal, according to abc4.com.

If pets are found to be malnourished and living in deplorable conditions, state animal officials can seize them and place them for adoption. Medical care is usually provided for such animals prior to adoption and vaccinations are generally given by local shelters.
