4 Charities You Don’t Want to Miss on Giving Tuesday

There are some great causes to support this year that will maximize your contribution

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – (November 27, 2024) – Giving Tuesday is December 3, 2024. This is a day on which people are encouraged to spread kindness and give back to help others. This comes on the heels of and during a month when many people spend lots of money, but not necessarily to help others. Those who want to add a little balance to their holiday spending will want to give back to help worthy causes that are making a difference all year long.

“We appreciate all the support we get, whether it is on Giving Tuesday or any other time,” says Kirk Smalley, co-founder of Stand for the Silent. “We couldn’t do what we do without the support of donors who help make it happen.”

Choosing a charity or cause to support is often a tough decision for many people. They are not sure which places are legitimate, where their donation will do the most good, and where their contribution will be maximized. Depending on the charity chosen, there is no telling the long-lasting impact that one’s support can create. Charities need support from people in the community in order to thrive and carry out their mission.

Here are 4 charities that you don’t want to miss this Giving Tuesday:

  • Stand for the Silent. This organization is taking on bullying at schools around the nation. The founder started the organization after his young son committed suicide as a result of being bullied at school. He now travels the country speaking to students at schools and offers additional incentive programs to raise anti-bullying awareness and reward students who are fighting bullying.
  • Paws of War. When military members are stationed overseas, there are times when they rescue a cat or dog. They nurse these animals to health and bond with them. Rather than leave them behind to die overseas, Paws of War helps them move their rescued pet to America to live out the rest of their life in safety and comfort. Additionally, training dogs to become service dogs, pairing them with a veteran in need free of charge and running a mobile veterinary clinic that helps military veterans care for their pets for free.
  • Miracles for Kids. Children who become critically ill need parents who are helping to take care of them, which can create an economic burden that is difficult to manage. This organization steps in to help ease that burden and help families during such a difficult and challenging time. They help families battle bankruptcy, homelessness, hunger, and depression. Those donating here for Giving Tuesday can get more bang for their buck, as their charitable partner, The Change Reaction, is matching all donations up to $50,000 through the end of the year.
  • Guardians of Rescue. When animals are in danger, this organization steps in to help with rescues and, if need be, to ensure that abusers are held legally responsible. They regularly step in to help with cases involving animal cruelty investigations, hurricanes, and other disaster situations, providing free proper shelter for dogs living outdoors and educating the public on caring for their pets. From helping provide food in war-torn situations to rescuing animals from hoarders, this group has helped many animals worldwide.

“Deep down, everyone wants to help others, but they don’t always know how to go about doing it,” added Smalley. “A lot of smaller donations add up quickly and can make a vast difference in the lives of others. We aim to create a safer and kinder world for our kids to grow up, and it’s made possible through the generosity of people who donate to make a difference.”

Stand for the Silent travels the country, giving presentations about bullying to schools, providing bullying prevention, giving out scholarships, offering intervention strategies, and more. Those interested in getting involved can start a chapter of the group in their area, obtain a free K-2 bullying prevention curriculum or cyberbullying handbook for parents, host a presentation at their school, introduce the How All Started video, and donate to help support the cause.
