We all love our pets—and for many of us, they're more than just companions, they're family. Personally, my dog is my kid (because I don't have any human ones), and like any parent, I want to do everything I can to keep him safe.
Living in Montana, we’ve got wide open spaces, wildlife, and lots of adventure. All things we love, but they can also mean more risks for our pets.
Recently I've come across some newer tech and helpful tools that can give us a little extra peace of mind. These pieces of technology can go a long way in keeping our fur babies safe.
We have amber alerts for missing kids, but why not for our pets? Well, that's what FidoTabby Alert thought when they developed their company.
It's a free service that will send you a unique ‘FidoID & FREE tag' that has a QR code that makes it simple for your pet's finder to report them found. If your pet goes missing, you can send a alert which will send a notification of your pets profile to all members in your local area.
So far 40,000 pets have been reunited with their owners because of FidoTabby Alert!
If your pet is an escape artist or loves to run, it might be time to invest in a GPS tracking collar. Devices like the Tractive Dog GPS Tracker offer real-time location updates every 2–3 seconds, unlimited range, and even let you set up a virtual fence. If your pet leaves the safe zone, you'll get an instant alert.
There are plenty of brands out there, each with their own features—but this gives you an idea of just how advanced (and helpful) these trackers can be.
These are just a few of the tools out there today to help keep your pets safe. Of course, microchipping is still a great option too—but combining it with modern things like GPS collars and other tech can give you even more peace of mind.
