The boy who died Tuesday after dogs mauled him in the Northeast Portland home of a caretaker has been identified as a student at Glenfair Elementary School in the Reynolds School District.
Loyalty Charles Scott, 6, died after two Great Dane-mastiff mixes attacked him in the garage of a Parkrose Heights home where his grandmother dropped him before school.
“Loyalty was and will always be the funniest, sweetest, most special and charismatic boy,” a school counselor wrote on GoFundMe.
Police identified one of the dogs as the primary aggressor but said both unlicensed pets were involved in the attack. Multnomah County Animal Services euthanized the dogs Wednesday and also took custody of a third dog found in the home.
The owner of the home had gone into the garage that morning when the boy was inside the house. The boy opened the door to the garage and one of the dogs charged him, police said the woman told them.
It was unclear as of Tuesday whether she would face any criminal charges.
