KUCHING (May 4): A total of 84 dogs were vaccinated during a mass anti-rabies vaccination campaign at the Old Airport in Kapit on Saturday.
Of this figure, 46 canines received their first dose while the rest were given a booster dose, said the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS) in a Facebook post.
“This initiative aims to curb the spread of rabies in the area, and received positive response from local pet owners,” it said, adding the favourable reaction reflected the community’s awareness and commitment to rabies prevention efforts by the Kapit DVS.
DVSS also appealed that pet owners continue ensuring their dogs are given the anti-rabies jab on a regular basis to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
“We will continue to carry out awareness and vaccination programmes to effectively curb the spread of rabies.”
Pet owners are advised to obtain the latest information on mass anti-rabies vaccination programmes through the announcements made via the DVSS Facebook page.
