The Charlotte Animal Care and Control is facing a critical situation as all kennels are completely full, leaving no space for incoming animals. The shelter is urging the community to step up and help by adopting, fostering, or making donations.

The shelter is currently overflowing with dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds. From young puppies to older dogs, there is a wide variety of animals in need of loving homes.  For those unable to adopt, fostering a pet can also make a significant difference.

If adoption or fostering isn't an option, the shelter offers other ways to contribute. A staycation program allows pets to spend a few days in a home environment, providing them with a much-needed break from the shelter. Additionally, monetary donations can be made to support a dog's adoption, covering essential costs and helping to alleviate the shelter's burden.

In an effort to encourage adoptions, all adoption fees have been waived. The shelter is asking for donations instead, which can include pet food or monetary contributions of any amount. “Whatever you can afford,” the shelter emphasizes, will be greatly appreciated.

The situation at the shelter is dire, and the alternative is something the staff doesn't even want to consider. The community's support is crucial to prevent the unthinkable. The shelter is located at 8315 Byron Drive in Charlotte, and those interested in helping can call 704-336-7600 for more information.

  • Adopt: Give a dog a forever home.
  • Foster: Provide temporary care for a pet in need.
  • Staycation: Offer a pet a short-term home for a few days.
  • Donate: Contribute pet food or make a monetary donation.
  • Address: 8315 Byron Drive, Charlotte, NC
  • Phone: 704-336-7600

The Charlotte Animal Care and Control is counting on the community to step up and help during this crisis. Every bit of support makes a difference in the lives of these animals. Please consider how you can contribute today.
