NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach installed a lost pet microchip scanner station.
The station is located at Murray Law Group, LLC in Little River.
“You just take the scanner right out of the box, you scan the animal, and then it gives you further instruction on if the animal does have a microchip, then how you move forward in locating the owner,” Meaghan Pitman, marketing manager for the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach, explained. “And if there is no chip present then it provides additional resources on what to do with the animal including giving you phone numbers for local animal control agencies.”
The installation of the station was funded by sponsorships from The North Myrtle Beach Chamber Foundation and Katharine Keaton with Murray Law Group, LLC.

“Micro-chips are one of the most effective ways to reunite lost pets with their families, and by making a scanning station accessible to the public, we are increasing the chances of pets returning home safely,” Pitman said.
The scanner can be accessed at 3775 Sea Mountain Hwy, Little River, SC 29566.
