On Sunday, April 27th, the Brown County Humane Society (BCHS) SPOT program hosted its largest Rabies Vaccination Clinic yet, welcoming over 500 pets and their families!

It was a gorgeous, sunny day — the kind of weather you hope for — as community pets lined up to receive much-needed care. By the end of the event, a total of 535 dogs and cats had been vaccinated, and 69 pets received microchips, a simple but powerful tool that can mean the difference between a lost pet and a happy reunion.

Once again, the Brown County Music Center provided the ideal location for the Clinic, and we’re incredibly grateful to Christian Webb and the BCMC team for their support. A special thanks also goes to Chad Jenkins from BC Emergency Management for his help with event logistics and for creating a safe vaccination space for our feline friends.

We could not have pulled off such a successful day without the hard work and heart of over 40 volunteers. To our amazing veterinarians — Drs. Baker, Finney, Funk, and Sheckell — who generously donated their time on a Sunday, we are deeply thankful for your commitment to keeping our community’s pets healthy.

And, of course, thank you to every pet owner who brought their dog or cat to the Clinic. Your patience and understanding as we worked through the busy line were truly appreciated.

This event is especially close to my heart. It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of making basic veterinary care accessible to every pet in our community. I am beyond thrilled with this year’s turnout and can’t wait to see everyone again next year!
