MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Dogs are an iconic pet for most families across the globe. And some get them as a gift for Christmas, but that can prove to be a problem. Because some people learn they can’t take care of the dog and it ends up at a rescue.
“We always try to remind people that a pet is a 15-plus year commitment. A whole family needs to be on board.” said Erin Buzick, the foster coordinator at 4 Luv Dog Rescue.
Dogs like Mistletoe and Zipper are here at Luv 4 Dog Rescue, looking to be taken to forever home one day. At the rescue, they are dealing with overcrowding, which is all too common during the holidays according to Luv 4 Dog.
“Increases the pressure and the concerns we have with capacity in bringing animals that are in need. Right now our building is really at capacity and our foster homes are at capacity. We can only help when we have the room and the space and the proper resources.” said Buzick.
Just remember, when it comes to pets it’s not a spur of the moment decision. But should be a decision that can impact your life for the years to come. Even though these dogs are stuck at the rescue during the holidays, the community has come together to get these pups Christmas gifts.
