JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – This show is going to the dogs.

Bullies on Ice will begin at noon Saturday at 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial, 326 Napoleon St., downtown Johnstown.

Kristie Rosenbaum, event organizer along with her husband Adam, said last year’s inaugural event was well received by the public and drew in a large crowd.

“It was a great successful show and we had a lot of locals come out,” the Stoystown resident said. “We also had breeders from all over the world attend.”

The dog show is based on some of the best French bulldogs, English bulldogs and bullies from around the world.

“We have judges coming from the United Kingdom, Ireland, California and South Carolina, so they’re coming from all over,” Rosenbaum said. “We want the community to know it’s a great family fun-filled day.”

The judging will begin at 1:15 p.m.

There will be an array of categories for judging for each breed.

“There are categories such as best standard colors, best exotics and best big ropes,” Rosenbaum said. “Some of the rarest DNA in the world is going to be here, so we have categories that a lot of places don’t.”

Awards include first- and second-place crystal trophies and a third-place ribbon in each category.

In the junior handlers category, winners will receive a bicycle and handmade leashes.

There also will be an open category where people are welcome to bring any breed of dog for judging.

During a break from judging at around 3 p.m., there will be a light show for children.

“The kids will get a glow stick they can turn on, and there will be a 20-minute light show,” Rosenbaum said. “We think the kids are really going to enjoy that this year.”

There also will be pet-related merchandise and food vendors.

A raffle will include chances to win a variety of items, including an electric scooter, a Michael Kors handbag and a Louis Vuitton dog carrier along with a variety of dog-related items. Tickets are $10 per card.

“We hope people will see how much enjoyment these dogs give,” Rosenbaum said.

“We also love to see the kids bring out their dogs and how excited they are to show off how hard they’ve worked with them all year. It’s a great experience and it’s fun.”

Admission is $20 for adults, free for children 12 and under and $10 for dogs.

The fee to enter a dog for judging is $20 per category.
