OTTAWA, ONTARIO — The Canada Plastics Pact (CPP) shared that the Pet Food Association of Canada has joined its efforts to eliminate plastic waste from the economy. The Pet Food Association of Canada represents Canada’s pet food industry with members including 24 manufacturers and 33 suppliers.
The CPP seeks to address the escalating plastic crisis by helping accelerate and scale solutions to reduce plastic waste. The association currently has more than 105 partners from throughout the plastic value chain. By fostering innovation and connection, CPP aims to rethink plastic packaging is designed, used and re-used to help support a more circular economy. The association’s members work together to eliminate unnecessary and problematic plastics, redesign packaging, and increase the usage of recycled plastic.
According to the Pet Food Association of Canada, it supports innovation in reducing plastic use while also improving plastic packaging recyclability.
In addition to the Pet Food Association of Canada, three package industry companies have also joined the CPP.
“We know we can’t solve the plastic crisis by working alone,” said Cher Mereweather, managing director at the CPP. “We are excited to welcome these new stakeholders to the Pact, each contributing unique perspectives to the plastics value chain.”
