The whole day is festive-themed for the pups to enjoy
A host of Merseyside dogs are spending Christmas day at a daycare centre. While December 25 is a time for festive feasts and family gatherings, for dog owners, the holiday season can bring “unique challenges and risks” for pets.
Rebeckah Vaughan, a former Big Brother contestant, hopes her dog hotel, No More Kennels will eliminate some of these problems. Open every day of the year, the venue is said to be one of the most luxurious centres the UK has to offer.
This feeling is only amplified on Christmas morning when dogs “get to live their best lives” with a stay at the Warrington company. The dogs get treated to everything from a festive meal, gift-giving and games.

Rebeckah, a dog expert, told the ECHO: “We have 90 dogs booked in on Christmas Day, which in the past meant preparing 90 Christmas dinners. While the thought of traditional festive feasts was heartwarming, we quickly realised they didn’t sit well with our pups’ sensitive tummies.
“This year, we’re opting for fresh chicken or white fish – simple, nutritious, and just as delicious. Starting bright and early at 7am, one of our dedicated nannies will be on non-Christmas dinner duty, ensuring each dog has their special Xmas lunch.
“The holiday magic begins before the daycare doggies arrive. Many dog mums and dads have left presents for their pups, and our nannies will help the dogs unwrap their gifts in the comfort of their rooms. For any pup without a gift, we’ve wrapped special surprises to ensure no one feels left out of the celebrations.
“As the daycare fills with more pups throughout the morning, our team carefully groups them into sections alongside their friends.”
Rebeckah explained how the highlight of the celebration comes at noon when “Santa Paws” makes a grand entrance. Arriving in style, he comes with a sack full of treats for the pups. She added: “Our Christmas celebrations are all about making the day special for the dogs in our care. We know how much our guests mean to their parents, and we’re honoured to give them a magical experience filled with love, fun, and care.”
The canine behaviour expert launched the business in 2008, wanting to give rescue dogs somewhere to come and be lavished in attention.
She said: “For us, there’s nothing better than spending the big day with the dogs we’ve come to know and love. It’s a joy to see them happy and enjoying the festivities just as much as us. There are many reasons why dogs need to be cared for on Christmas Day, and for us, it’s so enjoyable getting to share the big day with dogs we’ve cared for for many years. I’d like to think we’re always here when our customers need us, including Christmas Day.”
