Key Points
  • Wellington Phoenix captain Annalie Longo's dog ran onto the pitch during Sunday's game against Canberra United.
  • The game was briefly paused as Tiger ran around the players before being escorted off the pitch.
  • Canberra United won 1-0 after a goal from Michelle Heyman.
An unusual pitch invader caused a disruption in Sunday's A-League Women's football match when Wellington Phoenix captain Annalie Longo's dog ran onto the field, halting play during the game against Canberra United.
The dog, named Tiger, ran onto the Porirua Park pitch in Wellington to the surprise and delight of the crowd, with fans bursting into a chant of Who Let the Dogs Out?

Several players tried to get the attention of the dog, who joyfully ran around the pitch, avoiding capture.

Tiger eventually spotted Longo and ran into her arms before the dog was escorted off the field.
“This is indeed the best league in the world,” commentator Jason Pine said.
Tiger's surprise appearance came after Michelle Heyman scored for Canberra United, a goal Wellington Phoenix couldn't match, securing Canberra's second straight win.

Canberra United may have won the match, but Tiger stole the show.
