(WHTM)– Thursday’s hometown heroes are helping animal shelters.
AAA Central Penn is collecting pet supplies at all its branches in the Midstate and to raise attention Speranza Animal Rescue brought along Stefan an American Staffordshire terrier who is up for adoption.
The pet supply drive is looking for donations of dog chews and toys, kitten food, cat treats and litter along with paper towels and kitchen drawstring trash bags.
“Each branch is supporting a different shelter,” Doni Spiegel from AAA Central Penn said. “We have about eight shelters that we’ll be helping out this month. So we’re asking people to come on in, bring donations.”
“As well as it just helps get the word out,” Ashley Maurice, dog coordinator for Speranza said. “People can see that we have adoptable dogs, then come out, get these furry babies their forever home.”
The pet supply drive lasts all month long.
Also, for every new member joining AAA Central Penn this month, the auto club will donate $2 to local animal shelters.
