A video of a massive fight between an animal activist and a dog sitter is stirring up attention on social media. The viral clip shows the activist slapping the dog sitter after CCTV footage revealed the sitter beating up a German Shepherd with the buckle of a belt in an inebriated state.
Mumbai-based animal activist Vijay Rangare shared the videos on Instagram. The video he shared is a compilation of two clips. The first shows the dog sitter striking a dog, leaving it in pain. The second clip captures the confrontation between the activist and the dog sitter. In another video, Rangare is speaking with two employees from the center where the incident occurred. They alleged that the dog sitter shown in the footage, along with others including the facility owner, mistreated animals.
“This is a short video captured by another caretaker on their phone. I have submitted a written complaint to the police, who will review all the CCTV footage and have registered an FIR. I will ensure that this horrific pet boarding facility is shut down,” Rangare wrote on Instagram.

Many social media users slammed the activist for beating up the pet sitter rather than taking legal action. A user wrote, “Shelter should be closed with immediate action. I really appreciate both the informers and your team for swift action. Just wanted to know where are the kids Rn?” a user wrote. “Man you are just hitting him,I would have thrashed him to another level if this was done to my baby. Good job on your part. Make sure the culprits get punished. Just ridiculous,” another user commented.
“Well done brother, this is what is needed in today’s world, justice then and there itself. How can people trust on such shops who are dealing in such a way,” a third user said.
In February, a video of two staff of a pet clinic beating and kicking a pet dog inside the premises of the clinic triggered a massive outrage on social media, prompting celebrities like Varun Dhawan and Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray to call for action against the staff.
