Adopt a pet at the TAPS Black Friday Adoption Event

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 23, 2024 – The Arkansas Pet Savers (TAPS) will be hosting a Black Friday Adoption Event Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hollywood Feed, 2206 E. Highland Dr.

During this event, animal lovers can adopt a dog or a kitten for a $200 adoption fee, which includes the animals spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and a two-week trial period.

If you can’t make it on Black Friday, the group will also be holding a TAPS Adoption Event and Dining Fundraiser on Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Newk’s Eatery at 1408 E. Highland Dr. Newk’s will be donating a percentage of their profits from noon to 4 p.m. on all dine in, curbside, and to go orders that day.

TAPS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foster-based dog rescue. Since 2014, the volunteers have rescued over 10,000 dogs, averaging around 1,000 a year over the last ten years.

“We are a foster-based organization, so we do not have a facility,” said TAPS volunteer Jennifer Jasinski. “We work with a lot of rescues in northern states as well because many of them have spay and neuter laws that that keep over population down and they have opening or people looking to adopt specific breeds, such as labs or lab-mixes. We even do big transports of up to 60 dogs sometimes to that will go to two or three rescues up north wanting them.”

If fact, TAPS has already rescued and transported 872 dogs to homes and other rescues this year. Of those, 60% were rescued from local pounds and were at risk of being euthanized, while 40% were strays rescued by individuals and turned in to TAPS to be rehomed.

“I just love this group and am in awe of what they do,” Jasinski said. “I am really excited about these events.”

As TAPS is completely volunteer based with no dedicated funding, it relies heavily on adoptions and donations to help feed, house, and provide medical attention to all the rescued animals.

“That is why we are trying to have more local adoptions and to get the word out,” she continued, noting the importance of community support.
