BUTTE COUNTY, Calif — Meet this week's Pet of the Week Emmy, an adventurous one-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix who is searching for her new forever family.
Emmy is one of Butte Humane Society's longest shelter residents. They say she's super affectionate and looking for a family who is just as adventurous as she is, ready to take her on exciting walks and teach her great manners.
Emmy gets along well with other dogs after proper introductions, and she's also looking to practice her socialization skills.
Since her arrival at the shelter, she's been spending time with volunteers and staff, getting walks and playtime every day. After working with staff on some of her skills, Emmy is very excited to show off how amazing she sits. and she's eager to go home with a family ready to help her develop them.
Not only will she make a great family pet, but Emmy's adoption fee has been generously covered by Golden Valley Bank, which means whoever takes her home doesn't have to pay it.
Butte Humane says all animals adopted from the shelter are evaluated by a vet, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccines and other necessary health care before going home.
You can learn more about Emmy on the Butte Humane Society website or visit the shelter during walk-in hours, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
