Adoptable pet of the week features animals at BC SPCA West Vancouver that are in need of a forever home
When Selma first arrived at the shelter, she was in poor physical health and very nervous about the world around her. Everything was new to her, from trusting humans, to eating from proper food bowls, to going out on walks, to even just playing as any puppy should.
But thanks to the love and care she’s received, Selma has fully blossomed over her stay in the shelter. She is now eager to explore the world and loves to go on long walks, but can still be fearful in new situations.
She is social with other dogs in care, and would do well in a home with another outgoing dog. However, Selma is a puppy and can be a lot of energy for older dogs who don’t appreciate her puppy antics!
She has been working overtime with potty training at the shelter, but her future home should be prepared to continue this and expect an accident here and there as she adjusts to a new home.
Selma is looking for a special family with previous shepherd experience. She’s an exceptionally smart girl who will thrive with lots of mental stimulation, exercise, games and socialization. Although she still has much to learn and experience, her curiosity and love for treats will be great assets in her training journey.
If you’re ready to provide this sweet girl with the guidance and support she needs, please drop by BC SPCA West Vancouver to visit during business hours (Tuesday to Sunday, 12 to 3 p.m.) or call the shelter at 604-922-4622.
