The following are among the pets up for adoption at the Humane Society of Madison County. Thanks to a generous donor, all adoption fees for cats and dogs are 50 percent off through Nov. 15.
Shasta
Shasta is a Dalmatian mix currently weighing 36 pounds and still growing. Her estimated birthdate is May 2023. Shasta is the definition of lovebug. She loves everyone she meets. She has made lots of human friends with all the volunteers and staff that take her for daily walks. She loves to go out to the shelter’s dog run and get the zoomies and just run and play. Her favorite toy seems to be any stuffie and especially any that squeak.
Shasta is a very smart little girl and very treat motivated, so learning new tricks and basic commands should be no problem with a little patience. She already knows “sit.” Since arriving at the shelter, she has kept her kennel clean for the most part. She only has occasional overnight accidents. So, it appears someone has previously worked with her on house training and crate training.
Shasta previously lived with her brother, and they do well together. The shelter staff think that with proper introductions and a meet-and-greet she should do well with another dog in the home. She visited the shelter’s cat adoption room and did really well.
Regular adoption fees for dogs vary: shelter dogs are $180, prison dogs are $250, puppies are $300, and popular pure-breeds are $400. Through Nov. 15, all adoption fees are half-off of these prices. The price includes: a Home Again microchip, set of shots, deworming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $17; this fee is cash only. Adoption fees can be paid by cash or credit card.

Jude
Jude and his brother, Jaspurr, were brought to the shelter by a nice person who found them out and all alone. Jude has an estimated birthdate of March 6, 2023, making him about 7 months old. He loves cuddling and playing with his brother and the other kitties in the shelter’s cat room.
If there a lap to be found, this sweet duo will find it, sometimes at the same time. Jude would love to be adopted with his brother, if possible, as they absolutely adore one another. Kittens do best in pairs, so please consider adopting both boys if you have room in your heart and in your home.
The regular adoption fees for cats are $100 for kittens up to 6 months old and $80 for cats 7 months and older. Through Nov. 15, all adoption fees are half-off of these prices. It includes: a FeLV/FIV test (if old enough), spay or neuter, set of shots, deworming, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). Fees can be paid by cash or credit card.
