Looking for a four-legged friend? Adult dogs and cats may be adopted for no fee at the Daviess County animal shelter through December 14 thanks to the “Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope Event” sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation.
While adoption fees are waived for adult dogs and cats, the fee for kittens and puppies will be reduced to $25.
“The adults often get overlooked. A lot of people choose puppies and kittens this time of year. We have quite a few adults that need homes,” Director of Daviess County Animal Care & Control Ashley Thompson said in October when BISSELL sponsored a similar event at the shelter.
The Daviess County animal shelter is located at 2620 KY 81. It is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but is closed from 12-1 p.m. daily for lunch. On Saturday, hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to their website, the BISSELL Pet Foundation exists to support animal welfare organizations and provide resources to underserved communities. This includes helping to reduce the number of animals in shelters and rescues through pet adoption, spay/neuter programs, vaccinations, microchipping, and crisis and disaster response.
