ARLINGTON, VA. — The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) announced two personnel updates to its staff on Nov. 21.

The association has created the new role of policy communications specialist and appointed Madison Wyman to the position, effective Nov. 13.

Wyman holds a bachelor’s degree in politics, as well as international affairs and communication studies, from Furman University. During her educational career, Wyman worked as the advance team lead in the university’s Riley Institute, serving as student ambassador and collaborating with local and national leaders to organize policy discussions and events. She also participated in a research and communications program with The Roots Routes in Bangkok and has internship experience in government affairs and communications.

In the new role, Wyman will work with the AFIA’s policy team to deepen stakeholders’ knowledge of the association’s legislative, regulatory and trade policy initiatives. Additionally, she will help prepare advocacy campaigns for domestic and international policy issues impacting the industry, as well as support AFIA’s media requests and crisis communications.

“The AFIA serves as the voice of the US animal food industry, communicating key policy goals to members of Congress, regulatory agencies, White House officials, international delegations and more,” said Victoria Broehm, senior director of communications at the AFIA. “With Madison’s rich experience in government affairs and conducting multimedia communications campaigns, we know she will help us take our policy communications and grassroots advocacy efforts to the next level.”

In addition to Wyman’s appointment, the AFIA also promoted Daisy Rodriguez to manager of meetings and events. Rodriguez originally joined the association in 2019 as meetings and events coordinator. Since then, she has shown outstanding skill and customer service, according to the AFIA, and has also taken on additional responsibilities to support its board of directors.

“Daisy consistently provides outstanding customer service to AFIA members registering for and attending AFIA events and programs and has shown herself to a be a team player who is always willing to support and collaborate with her colleagues,” said Jessica Morse, director of meetings and events at the AFIA. “I look forward to working with her in her expanded role.”
