ARLINGTON, VA. — The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) is gearing up for a busy 2022 with a full slate of events to educate, support and bring the animal food industry together.

“While 2021 brought the opportunity to see some member faces again, we hope to see many, many more in 2022,” said Sarah Novak, vice president of membership and public relations at AFIA. “We look forward to a new year of bringing high-quality events and networking to animal food industry professionals.”

The International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) is returning to an in-person event this January with a feed program that will focus on regulatory changes and provide an industry outlook for 2022. During this trade show, AFIA will host several feed-focused programs and events.

Its annual Pet Food Conference will kick off 2022 with a much needed — in real life — dose of content, collaboration and pet food manufacturing-related conversations. The conference offers a full day of industry leaders speaking on important topics that will impact pet food and treat manufacturers, industry suppliers, regulatory bodies and allied academic communities now and in the future. This one-day event will take place in-person on Jan. 25 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta.

On Jan. 26, AFIA will host an in-person program from 9:30 a.m. to noon during IPPE to discuss “Business Continuity in Times of Disruption: Lessons Learned in the Feed Industry.” The organization’s Nutrition Committee will cover challenges and opportunities faced by members of the animal agriculture industry, including foreign animal diseases and pandemic-era impacts.

Also on Jan. 26 at IPPE, the organization will host its Feed Education Program from 8 to 10 a.m., where members of its production compliance committee will discuss regulatory requirements for feed, recent changes and pandemic-era policies.

Other events hosted by AFIA in 2022 include:

AFIA will also partner with Kansas State University to offer a five-week virtual course, “AFIA-KSU 500: Fundamentals of Feed Manufacturing,” throughout the year. Courses will be available from Feb. 1 to March 8; from March 22 to April 19; from Aug. 2 to Sept. 6; and from Oct. 4 to Nov. 8.
