GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – A letter about cats in this facility was sent on October 28th. County officials say the employee who wrote the letter worked at Alachua County Animal Services for about four months.
Along with the letter was this photo of an injured cat with a bone sticking out.
The county’s Director of Communications Mark Sexton says the cat arrived at their facility like this, and workers treated it immediately.
“The picture of the cat with the exposed bone was not taken at animal resources, it was taken by a resident. We sent out a resource officer who picked up the cat, brought it back to the facility where it received excellent care.” said Sexton.
TV20 with a couple who fosters animals from the shelter often.
Olivia and Andrew Seddon say they’ve fostered at least 3 pets recently and they’re only concerned about the well-being of the animals.
“We do love animals very much. I am a veterinarian and I take animals very seriously in my life. I think they give us so much joy and happiness.” said Seddon.
Olivia Seddon says thinking about the needs of animals keeps her awake at night.
“No, I couldn’t sleep at all thinking about some of the animals. It’s not just this shelter it’s other shelters they’re all overworked.” said Seddon.
Sexton says the mission of professionals at the shelter is to help all animals in need who come through their doors.
“Understand that the experts who do this day in and day out and have devoted their lives to it care deeply for what they do and these animals.” said Sexton.
