Last night, some ITV viewers stated “we can't take much more of this” as they threatened to switch off in their droves.

At the same time, broadcaster ITV defended the bubbly Brummie – yet wouldn't confirm her future on the adorable pooch-perfect series.

Now Alison appears to have hit back on social media, taking to her page on X to ‘like' the remarks of fans defending her.

One had taken to the platform to write: “Well I think Alison is doing a great job at the filling big boots left by Paul. There's never going to be a host ‘everyone' agrees on. Just like any long running show when the host changes.”

Another wrote how she was “doing a great job @Battersea_ love having a laugh and a cry with you every week.”

A third commented: “@AlisonHammond you are fabulous, warm and funny on For the Love of Dogs. Paul will be cheering you from the clouds. Don’t let the miserable mogs get you down.”

Alison, clearly appreciative of their words, took to the heart icon on X to ‘like' their messages – along with a slew of others.

Earlier this week, rumours surfaced that the commercial network was planning to axe of the star after her first series on the show.

For the Love of Dogs viewers slam Alison Hammond as they notice ‘secret trait’ about

Team Alison

An spokesperson for the channel hit back at the claims this week and said: “Any suggestion that conversations at decision-making level regarding the future of Alison's role on For the Love of Dogs have been held within ITV or between the production team and Battersea are entirely without foundation.

“This new series is in the middle of its run and standard practice means no meaningful assessment of future plans would be made at this stage.

The spokesperson added to GB News: “Everyone's really pleased with the way Alison has brought her warmth and enthusiasm to the show and we hope viewers continue to enjoy it over the next month on ITV1 and on ITVX.”

Secret trait

Previously, fans flagged Alison's annoying “trait” as she fronted the series.

Fans pointed out how she doesn't like to pet dogs on the show – and how she doesn't have any pooches of her own.

Claire-Louise Nixon, who runs the Wheels to Paws charity, also suggested to The Sun that Alison is ‘scared' of dogs and refused to do an interview with her rescues indoors.

Fans of the show have also picked up on her hesitation to interact with the fluffballs with one hitting out and writing: “I like Alison but there’s no way she should be on for the love of dogs, reading off a script, scared to even stroke the dogs!”

The mum of one, again, swiftly dished out a response – again liking some of the more positive messages on social media instead.
