ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)—Angels of Assisi will be hosting a Quick Shot Drive Through Vaccination Clinic at the Regional Center Care and Protection to help pet owners protect the health of their dogs on Friday, Nov. 10.
From 2 p.m. to 5p.m., the care center will be offering a fast, one-shot Bordetella and Distemper vaccination for $5 per dog. With the Quick Shot Clinic, owners can make sure pets are protected and control the spread of the virus.
This comes in response to the recent dog respiratory outbreak in the community. The clinic hopes to combat the spreading of Bordetella, or kennel cough. Bordetella is a bacteria that can cause respiratory problems in dogs, including coughing, decreased appetite, and runny eyes/nose. These bacteria can lead to a development of pneumonia or further infections.
When a dog is infected canine distemper can infect a pet’s lungs, airways, nose, and eyes. It can also infect the brain and suppress the immune system.
