Angry pet lovers suggest cat dumped in tied coal bag was stolen by ‘malicious neighbour’

An Irish animal rescue is seeking the owner of a cat found dumped in a tied coal bag in a forest by a passing dog walker. 

According to My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR), the cat – who volunteers have named Rodney – was found by a lady out walking her dogs who spotted a moving bag. 

In a post published on social media last night (Thursday January 25), MLHR stated: “This guy came into our care yesterday after he was found dumped in a forest in a tied coal bag. Who does that… how could somebody do that? 

“He is neutered and has had surgery on his ears so somebody at some stage loved and cared for this adorable man. He is the sweetest cat you could ever meet!

“All he wants are cuddles and thank god the lovely lady who was out walking her dogs spotted the bag moving, brought her dogs back to her car and went back to investigate. 

“You will never have to worry again Rodney, we understand you are confused by all that has happened over the last few days but we promise you a life worth living.” 

Animal lovers and fans of MLHR rushed to the comments to suggest Rodney may have been taken by “a malicious neighbour” due to his size and good health. 

One person commented: “It could be a malicious neighbour or anyone who’s picked up this cat and taken him away to dump. I really hope he has an owner who’s looking for him and there’s a happy ending.” 

Another said, “It would be great if it turned out he had a decent home… but I’d be suspicious that maybe a cat hater in his neighbourhood caught him and dumped him. There are a lot of evil people out there… nothing surprises me anymore.

“Thank god for the kind lady who found him and to all at the rescue who are looking after him, thank you all so much. I hope the little pet will settle and recover from his trauma.” 

A further commenter stated: “Maybe original owner had a neighbor who didn’t like cats and stole him, wouldn’t be the first, ours was poisoned.”
