LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Animal Foundation is sharing tips for helping and securing your pets during 4th of July fireworks.

Staff members urge pet owners to keep their four-legged friends inside and safe.

Max Blaustein, a marketing and communications coordinator at The Animal Foundation, said pet owners can make a safe space.

"So that could be having a nice quiet room," he said.
"Maybe your closet that's sort of insulated with clothes already, that's really good.
Playing some music."

Blaustein also recommends tiring a pet out with a short walk or giving them toys to keep them distracted.

In case you are concerned about losing a pet, owners are urged to keep microchip information up to date.
You can also upload photos and information to Petco Love Lost. If a pet ends up lost and later found, the site will try to match the information and contact the owner.

All reclaim fees at the Animal Foundation are being waived through July 10. Blaustein says you will need pictures of your pet, vaccine records and proof of rabies shots to get a pet back free of charge.

If you lose a pet, Blaustein recommends checking social media sites like Facebook or Nextdoor to see if anyone has reported finding them.
You can also check the Animal Foundation website, which will update its page regularly when lost pets are taken in.

If you find a lost pet, you can call The Animal Foundation's hotline at (702) 955-5932 for assistance.
The hotline runs from 9 a.m.
to 9 p.m.
seven days a week.
