Although Terre Haute's City Code has long had a section requiring all residents owning any dog or cat older than three months to register the animal with the city, that regulation had not been enforced in the past.

That changed Tuesday when the Terre Haute City Clerk’s Office announced that it will be accepting applications for pet licenses either in its office or online.
Clerk Michelle Edwards reported Tuesday morning that she had already processed her first application and had received a second.

To register an animal online, visit bit.ly/40CnTmT. A copy of the pet’s current rabies vaccination form is required.
A photo of the form may be uploaded through the online application or brought into the clerk's office when applying in person.

An optional photograph of the animal may be submitted with applications.
If your animal would become lost, the photograph would be used to help identity it.

Once a license is issued, applicants will receive a City of Terre Haute Pet License certificate for their records.
For more information, please visit the Animal License Permits folder linked above.

County residents should contact the Vigo County Commissioner's office for more information.
