In celebration of National Pet Day, the Caldwell County Animal Shelter visited the Rivers Bend Retirement Community.
Both Animal Control Officer Kevin Lane and Miranda Johntry brought along a furry friend to visit residents at the retirement home. Lane said they were thrilled to have the visit and that this is one of the reasons the shelter is so involved with their city and county. Simple acts of kindness, such as this, are the shelter’s way of giving back to a community that has given so much to them.
“We were happy to go out there and uplift the residents living there,” Lane said. “It’s so often we never have to ask for donation, for food, things of that nature. The community just steps up to help us, without a second thought. We just want to return those blessing in any little way that we can. Our dogs loved visiting the residents there and I have a good feeling they loved it just as much.”
