NEW YORK — Ten Lives Club in Blasdell has teamed up with vacuum cleaner manufacturer BISSELL to try and get longer-term residents adopted no matter where an owner lives in New York.
BISSELL Pet Foundation has launched a new Intrastate Transport Program that connects animal welfare organizations throughout the state intending to increase adoptions.
The Blasdell adoption group has listed their harder-to-place cats on the platform in the hopes of getting them adopted.

According to a recent report from Shelter Animals Count, a non-profit that compiles data from animal organizations across the country, dogs of all sizes are staying in the care of shelters and rescues longer than they have in previous years.
Their analysis also found that nationwide, dog adoptions have declined by 1% from 2023 to 2024, with medium-sized dogs averaging 18 days in shelters and larger dogs averaging 20 days.
Similar data for cats was not provided, although according to the group, cat adoptions grew by 1.8% over 2023.
Those interested in adopting a cat should contact Ten Lives Club, as pets will be regularly transferred as part of the program.
