North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) have cats, dogs, horses and some smaller animals, all hoping to find their forever home.
The staff and volunteers at the Trelogan-based charity, in Flintshire, know the animals as individuals, and therefore know what kind of home they are more likely to thrive in.
Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or horse, staff are on hand to advise on the character and suitability of each.

They also make sure potential new owners are aware of the ongoing costs of a pet, including food and vet bills, which can often be for unexpected treatment.
But thankfully there are plenty of responsible, loving people and families looking to give an animal a loving new home.
And there are always animals of all types, ages and needs that will be the perfect match.
Here we meet just some of those at NCAR looking for a new home…
• For more details about the animals or volunteering, visit ncar.org.uk or if you would like to support the charity without adopting, you can visit their cafe – Doris’s Bunker – open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10.30am to 3.30pm. They also accept donations at the centre between 10am and 4pm.
Milo, available for adoption at NCAR.
• One-year-old Milo came to NCAR through the owner's change of circumstances and unable to care for him. He is now looking for a loving home where he can have lots of cuddles. Initially very timid when he first arrived, he has quickly come out of his shell and is a very affectionate boy. He is a dog that needs a bit of TLC in his next home, which will need to be a calm home that can build his confidence. He does like his walks and he is only young, so will need an active home where he can get plenty of socialisation and exercise. He is looking for a home with 13+ children. He has previously lived with another dog but at the rescue, he is quite timid and snappy with dogs up close. Milo does have a injury on his front leg, possibly a previous break that never received treatment. Anyone interested in Milo will need to understand this is lifetime injury which may need management or potential treatment in the future.
Ruby, available for adoption at NCAR.
• Ruby is a tortoiseshell cat who has come into the rescue after her owners moved house and are sadly not allowed pets. Ruby, almost four-years-old, has always been kept as a housecat and not been allowed outside, so we are looking for a home where she remains a housecat. Ruby is an affectionate cat who will sit on your lap at night. She likes to play with toys and needs to have owners who will spend time playing with her so she gets plenty of exercise and mental stimulation in the home. She needs to be the only pet in the home. She could go to a home with older quiet teenagers.
Sherlock, available for adoption at NCAR.
• Four-year-old saluki Sherlock came into care for rehoming due to no fault of his own, and is now looking for a new home. He is very friendly, affectionate and loving. He craves human interaction and loves to lean into you for a fuss. He is looking for a home with people who are used to sighthounds. Sherlock is looking for a home where he will not be left for long periods as he has shown some separation anxiety at the rescue, however his previous owner said he is okay to be left for a couple of hours once he is settled in the home. He can be a little bit hit and miss with other dogs and will bark at dogs that bark at him first, he has previously lived with dogs and we do feel he has potential to live with a compatible female dog as long as introductions went well at the rescue but new owners must be willing to manage him around dogs out and about if needed. He is looking for a home with a large garden, and with sensible teenagers 14+ who can get involved in his daily routine.
Joey, available for adoption at NCAR.
• Nine-month-old Joey is a lovely lad who has come into care for rehoming due to allergies. He is very friendly, affectionate and cheeky. Joey is looking for a home with a good outdoor area for him to explore once he has settled into his new home. He can be rehomed with sensible children 8+ in his next home and will suit a family environment as he is quite confident. Joey hasn’t lived with other animals previously and may be best as the only pet in the home.
Holly, available for adoption at NCAR.
• Holly came in as a stray, and is now looking for her new forever home. She is a lovely girl who has lots of love to give, affectionate and cuddly and is quite people orientated. She can be timid at times but does tend to look to her handler for guidance. Due to her coming as a stray, we don’t have any background history on her and aren’t sure if she has ever lived in a home environment, we feel she would thrive as being part of a family though. She really enjoys being out and about on adventures. She can be a bit strong when she wants to be but walks really well on a gen-con. Her recall is quite hit and miss, typical of her breed but is very food motivated which definitely helps with training. At the rescue, two-year-old Holly has met a large variety of different dogs and has been fantastic with them, she walks well with them and has also showed great social skills when off lead too. She has the potential to live with a compatible dog as long as the introductions go well. Being a hound, Holly would not be suitable to live with cats or other small furries. Holly can be rehomed with children 12+ who are sensible and dog-savvy.
Dorito, available for adoption at NCAR.
• Dorito, also known as Vinnie, was originally a kitten at the rescue. He has returned age five years and eight months as sadly the baby in the house is allergic to him. He has always been a housecat, so we are looking for a home where he has no access to outside as he has never been outdoors previously. He is shy until he knows and trusts you and then he is affectionate, he would like a quiet adult only home with owners that will be patient with him whilst he settles in and adjusts to his new environment.
