BINTULU (Oct 27): An anti-rabies vaccination programme at the Hokkien Association Hall here today saw 50 dogs administered the first dose, and another 50 receiving booster jabs.
The Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Sarawak said canines were brought in by 34 owners from 9am to 3pm.
“We express our gratitude for the community’s support to our ongoing rabies prevention efforts. This initiative is crucial for ensuring the health and safety of our pets and the wider community,” said a DVS Sarawak spokesperson.
The spokesperson said the success of this vaccination programme highlights the community’s commitment to combating rabies and ensuring the well-being of their pets.
“DVS Sarawak plans to continue such initiatives to maintain public health and safety in the region.”
Meanwhile, Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang said programmes such as this will help ensure the spread of the rabies among animals is contained.
“Therefore, all pet owners should take advantage of the free vaccination opportunity for their pets,” he said when met at the programme.
He added the best way to contain the spread of this deadly disease is through pet vaccination.
