A Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputy saw smoke coming from a home in Cordes Lake. When he arrived at the house, it was fully engulfed in flames.
YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — A homeowner and their dog are safe today thanks to some Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies.
According to a post on Facebook, a Yavapai County Sheriff's deputy in Cordes Lakes saw smoke nearby just after 10 p.m. on Sunday. When he arrived, he found a home fully engulfed in flames.
He and other deputies made sure the homeowner was safe from the fire but were then told a dog was in a kennel at the back of the building.
Deputies didn't hesitate to run into the building and found the dog near the burning fire. After rushing in with bolt cutters to free the dog from the kennel, the deputies were able to help the pup escape from danger.
Deputies went to surrounding homes to inform residents to evacuate and no injuries to people or pets were reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown, officials said.
