ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Local pet owners in need can keep their cats happy and healthy thanks to Asheville Cat Weirdos' (ACW) food drive on Sunday.
The event was hosted at Pet Supermarket, where participants dropped off bags of cat food, litter, toys, and more.

Organizers said the main goal is to make sure no one has to give up their animals to a shelter because of their financial situation.
“If you've ever thought of yourself or been in a position yourself where you didn't know how you would feed your pets and yourself and been worried you'd have to give them up because of that, put yourself in that situation and if you're able to give one can of food, one small bag of food, a bag of litter — anything would help,” Volunteer Coordinator Michelle Cox said.

Pet Supermarket was also hosting its weekly adoption event at the same time as the drive. People can adopt a foster cat right at the store every Sunday.
If you need help feeding your cat, ACW holds a Cat Pantry on the second Tuesday and fourth Saturday of every month at House of Black Cat Magic, 841 Haywood Road, in Asheville.
