AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Pets Alive! changed things up Saturday for this year’s Clear The Shelters Day by hosting two events for cat and dog lovers.
Cats & Coffee was held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., and Dogs at Dusk was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. These events also discounted all in-shelter adoption to $10 all day in honor of ten years of Clear The Shelters.
The events featured music, vendors, tattoos, and adopter giveaways. 15people who adopted at today's events were entered for a chance to win a Dog Adopter Bundle, KitNipBox, Kitty Kasa Set, KitNip Subscription, Free Home Deep Clean, or WildOne Tote Bag.
Clear The Shelters is a national campaign that marked its 10th anniversary this year. It encourages people to adopt from their local shelters in an effort to “clear the shelters.”
Clear the Shelters aims to recreate excitement around adopting Austin animals in need, especially during the hot weather and slow adoption during the summer months. Since the beginning of Clear The Shelters on August 10 through August 27, Austin Pets Alive! has been able to adopt out 323 cats and dogs.
They will also continue discounting all adoption fees by 50% until September 10th with spay and neuter deposits still applying.
