Actress Ayesha Jhulka, known for her roles in films like Kurbaan and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, has taken legal action concerning the mysterious death of her pet dog, Rocky, at her Lonavala bungalow in September 2020. The case, involving allegations against her bungalow's caretaker Ram Andre, has faced delays despite a filed chargesheet in 2021.
Allegations and Suspicion

Jhulka, known for her deep attachment to her rescued pets, became suspicious of Andre's involvement due to discrepancies in his explanation of Rocky's death. While Andre claimed the dog drowned in a water tank, a post-mortem revealed suffocation as the cause, leading to charges under IPC section 429 (mischief by killing, maiming of animal).
Legal Action and Plea for Speedy Trial
Andre was arrested and later released on bail, prompting Jhulka to file a plea through her advocate Harshad Garud for a swift trial. She emphasised the right to a speedy trial under Article 21 and the significance of timely judicial intervention, stressing the pending forensic report's importance.
Amid the investigation, a blood-stained bedsheet was sent to a forensic lab in Pune, and a report is pending. Jhulka's legal team was informed orally about the lack of staff to collect the report.
Additionally, Jhulka lodged a complaint with the Directorate of Prosecution, Mumbai, citing the public prosecutor's failure to advance the trial. Subsequently, with no progress in the case, Jhulka filed a plea in the High Court.
Court Proceedings
During the Friday hearing, the bench directed Jhulka to approach a single judge bench for further proceedings, highlighting procedural nuances. Garud stated his intention to expedite the process by seeking an early hearing in Justice Modak's court as soon as feasible.
