The Baldwin County Animal Shelter is open on Monday through Friday between 1-5 p.m.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. — Baldwin County Animal Control and Services says they're in critical need of supplies and food for their growing population of adoptable animals.

The shelter says dogs and cats are dropped off at the shelter all the time.

“A lot of them end up euthanized cause no one will take them,” volunteer Darlene Brantley said.

Now, Brantley says the shelter needs help.

“The account here was down, I think she said $50 or less, and I guess Milledgeville is not helping out so I put it to the community to see how we can help,” she said.

Brantley has been volunteering for almost a decade. She doesn't want a shortage of pet supplies to be the reason an animal is euthanized.

It's why she dropped off bags of pet food, laundry detergent and dish soap.

Deb Campbell wants the community to get more involved. She says the people who already contribute are making a difference.

“We greatly appreciate the community that is being served by this department that steps up like they have been the past couple of days when a need was expressed. There are still a lot of good people in Baldwin County that care,” Campbell said.

All Brantley and Campbell want is more folks to support the shelter and by extension, the pets.

Campbell sees how animals bring people together and wants more animals to be able to find a safe home and a place where they can be loved.

If you are interested in donating, you can visit Friends of Baldwin County Animal Services in Milledgeville.

The Baldwin County Animal Shelter is open to the public Monday through Friday between 1-5 p.m. As well as after hours or on weekends, by appointment for pre-approved adopters.
