Event Date:
September 30, 2023 – 11:00am
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit will host another introductory Barks & Bandages event Saturday. The event is designed to help prepare dog owners for pet emergencies.
Topics will include recognizing symptoms of internal bleeding, heatstroke, toxin ingestion, allergic reactions, rattlesnake bites, and gastric dilatation-volvulus or “bloat.”
Barks & Bandages will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, 911 East Musser Street.
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office is ramping up for the 2023 K9 Unit Challenge, happening Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fuji Park in Carson City.
This free event features dozens of K9s from multiple agencies that will compete in three primary events: Patrol apprehension, odor detection, and agility. Apprehension and Agility events will be on full display at Fuji’s main arena, where there are bleachers for public viewing (and cheering).
In addition to the main event, there will be chances to meet the dogs, vendors, K9 swag, and food including tacos, poke, and BBQ. There will also be a SWAT demonstration at 10:30 a.m., JJ Christy with K-BULL 98.1 will make a special appearance at 1 p.m., and a mounted unit demonstration at 3 p.m.
CCSO invites all to cheer on their favorite dog, enjoy food and a good show in support local K9s.
