A BARTON dog training club has released a film to celebrate its three decades of community fun.
Entitled ‘30 Pawsome Years’ the film has been created by longstanding Friendly Dog Club member and Highcliffe film-maker Andy Clayton. It focuses on the history of the club as well as the challenges and triumphs. It also celebrates memorable moments such as carnivals, fancy dress parades and training demos.
With the help of archive footage, the film reveals the early days of the club, discovering clicker training. It also highlights seminars that drove the move to positive, kind training techniques.
Footage also looks back on an impressive line dance routine which led to a massive gathering of dogs at the Variety Club of Great Britain in 1999 with TV personality Esther Rantzen. The team also appeared on Sky TV in the 1990s.
Charitable outreach of the club is also highlighted detailing everything from helping educate youngsters with Prevent-a-bite and KAD to helping DoE students and training pets to be assistance dogs.
Andy donated his services for free, and any money made from advertising will be donated to the Friendly Dog Club as members continue to fundraise for a new HQ.
Club founder, Angela Horsley said: “Thirty years is an amazing milestone. I love the people, love the dogs, I love the challenges that it’s presented to me over the years. It’s such a positive vibe. “It’s wonderful to be the person that started that journey.”
Dog trainer Kate Anderson added: “The club is like a family. As well as it being my job, it’s my life. It’s so much more than a job.”
