GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire on May 24.
The homeowners called 911 after discovering a fire in their basement. Firefighters arrived at the home, located on the 2100 block of North 21st Street, shortly after 8:32 a.m.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and intense heat coming from the basement. They were able to suppress the flames through an exterior window and by opening up interior walls to confirm that the fire was fully extinguished.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Currently, the American Red Cross is assisting two displaced individuals and their pet dog.
The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.
