BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – If you are looking at adding a furry friend to your family… the Bay County Animal Shelter is holding a special deal on adoption fees just in time for the holidays.
The shelter is holding its Home For the Holidays program where you can adopt a cat or dog from the shelter for $10 dollars.
All you need is your ID, and your animal comes with vaccines, spay or neutering, a microchip, a heartworm preventative, and a flea preventative.
Volunteers say normally it costs $ 25 to adopt an animal. Shelter volunteers say they are full right now with over 40 animals.
“Everybody’s so busy, the holidays are coming, so the hustle and the bustle, we understand,” said Serine Junger, Animal Control Manager. “We feel like all these guys need the opportunity to be home with a family for the holidays as well. If we lower that fee, then we’re hoping to encourage people to come out and take a look. We’ve got some fantastic animals, great adoption candidates, so we’re just trying to get these guys out of here.”
The special deal on cats and dogs will run Monday through Tuesday.
The shelter is open on Tuesday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The shelter will be closed Wednesday through Sunday for the Holidays. Normal hours will resume next week.
