BEDFORD, Va. (WFXR) — The Bedford Fire Department (BFD) has released body cam footage after a house fire resulted in the death of three dogs and left another injured on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire department said around 1:25 p.m., crews were dispatched to Magnolia Drive for a house fire. When they arrived at the scene, they found the home in flames.
The occupant told firefighters that their pets were still trapped in the house.
The department said crews then split into two groups. One group worked to battle the fire and the other began searching for the pets. However, the crews working to locate the missing dogs were unsuccessful.
After the fire was brought under control, crews completed another search of the house.
The Bedford Fire Department confirmed that three dogs died in the blaze and two were found alive. One was taken to an emergency veterinarian hospital and another was treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
