Gaston County Police say a tip about a domestic violence incident led them to charge a man accused of killing his family's dog earlier this week.
The department said an anonymous tip shared on Tuesday claimed the situation at a home along School Street ended with the killing of a family pet. An investigation with Gaston County Animal Care & Enforcement was started, which officers said led them to discover a Siberian Husky mix dog had been killed and buried at a different location.
38-year-old Calvin Todd Moore was arrested after the investigation and charged with felony cruelty to animals. He was granted a $100,000 secured bond and is in the Gaston County Jail awaiting an initial court appearance. Moore was also arrested for outstanding charges from Cabarrus County and given a $20,000 bond for those charges.
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone who may be able to offer further information should call Det. J. P. Brienza at (704) 866-3320 or leave a tip with Crimestoppers at (704) 861-8000.
