Boston Dynamics robot falls in front of Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly

Spot, the Boston Dynamics robot dog, is wagging its… sensor? again after a rough morning. Monday morning, the iconic piece of tech fell off the stage during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly. Kelly and several other local leaders gathered Monday morning in Tonganoxie to celebrate the grand opening of the new Hill's Pet Nutrition smart factory. What better way to celebrate the high-tech pet food plant than with a cameo from one of the world's most agile and state-of-the-art robot dogs?Unfortunately, after successfully navigating the stairs and delivering the ceremonial scissors, the robotic factory helper tumbled off the event's raised platform. The fall happened directly in front of Kelly, who gasped and briefly covered her face. Shortly after the shock wore off, the incident drew laughs from the crown. Spot safely got back up, and the rest of the celebration went off without a hitch. The 365,000-square-foot smart facility is no joke and will increase the company’s production capacity for canned pet food. The plant features advanced digital monitoring of pet food-making processes and end-to-end AI-driven vigilance over food quality and safety protocols.”Hill's will utilize technology to work alongside Hill's staff and a new state-of-the-art Mission Control Center to provide unprecedented visibility and monitoring through every aspect of pet food making from ingredient intake to final packaging,” Director of Manufacturing for the Tonganoxie Plant Chad Sharp said. The Hill’s plant currently employs 100 people and will make 170 varieties of wet food.”This investment by Hill's Pet Nutrition is a testament to my administration's success in creating a pro-business economy, including for the animal health industry,” Kelly said in a press release Monday. “I'm delighted our unique Animal Health Corridor continues to expand, growing our economy and supporting communities like Tonganoxie.
