BUFFALO, N.Y.
— A man surrendered more than two dozen dogs, saying that he felt overwhelmed and needed some help.

"At times, we all need a helping hand," the SPCA Serving Erie County said Wednesday on social media, sharing how it came to help a man who had 27 dogs.

The man contacted the SPCA, which then worked with the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter, Pixie Mamas Rescue, and the Puppy Mill Rescue Team to bring in the dogs.

"This compassionate pet owner realized that he could not provide the care his dogs needed, putting them at risk, and sought help," the SPCA said, later adding, "We are truly grateful for being able to extend support to this caring pet owner."
